Unit 30 Task 2 P2

Unit 30 Task 2 P2

A vector graphic is an image that is made up of multiple polygons congealed together. This means that the image can be enlarged and won’t become pixelated, which is what would happen if you tried the same with a bitmap image. This means that the quality of the work would be better.

A bitmap is an image taken with a camera that is made up of pixels. The more they are magnified the easier they are to see. This will affect picture quality and lead to pixilation and is why bitmap images shouldn’t be enlarged.

For a brochure you would need both vector and bitmap image. The vector image would be things like a logo that needs to be enlarged or shrunk for different parts of it. The bitmap would be for pictures of what the brochure was about. These wont have to be enlarged meaning the it stays at a high quality.

For a website it would depend on what the website was about. If it was about a place or event it would use bitmap images of the location and things that happened there. However if it was about a something where all the graphics were animated like a game for example it would consist of mainly vector images.

To place graphics on the side of a bus or van you would have to use vector graphics as it would have to enlarged multiple times to fit the size of the bus or van and not loose quality.

  1. www. P2, Well done. Here you have explained the features and limitations of different file formats, drawing conclusions regarding which formats lend themselves to particular graphical products. This is exactly what was asked for.
